Nap to Quiet Time Transition

Recently Aura decided she no longer needed her one nap. We told her we wanted to introduce her to quiet time. We told her she still had to stay in her room during her nap hours but she could choose what she wanted to do.

She had many options from: drawing, colouring, reading, playing with her @lovevery play kits or reading through her @aurakidsco affirmations and gratitude cards.

Aura loved this idea! What 3 year old doesn’t love control and choosing for themselves? For the first week she would play quietly for an hour then go to her bed and take a 30 minute snooze. Some days she will play for the entire duration (2 hours) and some days she will nap for half of the time.

As parents, this was a win/win for us. We still got back those 2 hours for ourselves and Aura got the choice of quiet time or napping. This has helped her to listen to her body and take a snooze if she needed.

The thought of her naps ending was terrifying for me lol but I’m so glad we found a way that works for us both!

I have always recommended the @lovevery play kits! They are our favourite and have been such a big part of our nap-to-quiet time transition 🤍
