Giving Birth During A Pandemic

Giving birth the first time-to the second time was only a difference of 21 months. But boy were things much different this time around. ⁣

I had so much anxiety & many questions:⁣

“Will I have to get swabbed?” ⁣
“What if I have it right now?”⁣
“Will they let me hold Ella?” ⁣
“What if she catches it from the hospital?” ⁣
“I feel hot.. omg do I have a fever? Do I have covid? 😓⁣

The covid worries were crippling 😖 and they were all made up in my head. None of them manifested either.. thankfully. ⁣

Here’s what did happen (07-2021) ⁣
𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘵𝘸:⁣

-I had to wear a mask while pushing AND I’m asthmatic. That. Was. Not. Fun. 😮‍💨 ⁣
-I didn’t get tested for Covid but they did check my temperature often (standard practice)⁣
-Bram was allowed inside with me right away🤍⁣
-Bram had in/out privileges to get food etc. 😋 ⁣
-No visitors ⁣

I was wearing a mask the first time Ella and I met.. that part was really sad for me. I kissed her through a mask and I felt like I was robbed of a ‘moment’ 😢⁣

In a nutshell, that was my experience giving birth during a pandemic. It’s not always as scary as it seems. Please don’t stress yourself out beforehand like I did 😅 ⁣

Oh! most importantly.. one thing that WAS different this time….⁣

….before getting the epidural you now had to do blood work and wait about 45 minutes 😢😓😫 ⁣
that just may have been the scariest thing for me lol 😆 (if you’re in this situation MAKE SURE they take your blood samples to the lab STAT) 💨 if it’s sitting around that’s more time having to feel those contractions. So be sure to add 45 minutes to the time you went to get the epidural. ⁣

Hope this helps anyone! Let me know if you have any questions below!
